Pentax have launched an infra red version of their 645D camera in Japan.

Pentax have launched a new infra red camera.
Called the Pentax 645D IR, the 40 mp camera is based on the Pentax 645D which was released in 2010, and can be used for high definition infra red photography.
The 645D was Pentax's first medium format camera, and was developed to create super high resolution images, ideal for serious landscape and outdoor photographers.
The infra red version has an IR cut filter on the front of the lens, which allows imaging of infra red wavelengths invisible to the human eye.
The camera has been developed for use in forensic and cultural investigations, where infra red will help to spot things that the human eye cannot. It is ideal for seeing hidden sketches under paintings, for example.
The camera is currently only available in Japan and is limited to 100 units. No price has yet been announced.
