Looks like you can get a 330mm - 1375mm (EAOV) if you buy the K to Q adaptor!

(Incidentally, we need a new forum section for the Q).

This will be good for bird and astro photographers. Would like to see results from the DA*300!

Wonder if it will work with the GPS unit too...

Dan

Is AF/Aperture control retained with that adapter?

Would be interesting to see some results. Would at least shed light on the common talking point that sensors are now out-resolving lenses. What resolution would you get if you scaled that sensor up to APSC, with the same pixel density?

Pentax Q coupled with Pentax FA 645 400mm f5.6 lens: Link

Large version (2000x1500): here.

Edit:

Plus another one with a Pentax Q with Pentax M* 6x7 800mm lens (!): Link

Large version (2000x1500): here.

Looks alright

Actually if you browse through this guy's photostream there are a lot of Q photos, including some kingfisher ones taken with the 645 400mm. Also some with the Q fisheye and standard lens.

He also evidently has a 645D

Bloody hell, that's amaaazing! The 6x7 800mm lens can't take such a drastic crop of the intended image circle, but the 645 400mm looks acceptable. Surely lenses designed for 35mm or APSC may fare even better. I'm pretty amazed. Looks like the 'sensors outresolving lenses' argument is a bit overhyped.

And a K5!

There's a flickr group for the Q. I must say the name is fantastic. The photos so far look OK on the whole, although higher ISO doesn't look great.

Verrry interesting, but I don't have a DA* 60-250 (or a Q, but this kind of application could potentially sway me on that score). Does anybody know if it is possible to fit some kind of tripod collar or other tripod mount to a DA 55-300? I don't see the combination of that lens and a Q really 'working' any other way.

I wonder how it would perform with the A*1200mm...
