What to look for when buying a k1000?

I'm to looking at buying a k1000 camera, is there anything in particular I should be looking for with this model when checking it over?

Less to go wrong, so that's the good news. The main problem with older Pentax SLRs is when the foam cushoning that the mirror slaps up onto when the shutter is fired, combines with the adhesive to form a black tar like substance and the foam deteriorates. Can be easily rectified in a service or even by d.i.y with appropriate gear - not that I've tried. Make sure battery compartment is clean, and that light meter functions as it should. Other things are pretty obvious, but the K1000 is a robust camera. Popular with photography students, not that they wouldn't look after it - just might be well used. Hope you find what you're looking for.

Solid cameras,MY VIEWS, just as long as the shutter fires and the speeds all work there's not much that can go wrong.

The only down side can be the light meter.
