A new Travel/Table Top tripod, comes complete with neat little pouch that you can be used over a shoulder or attached to a belt of bag waist strap.

I'm very impressed with both build quality and functionality

Cheers
Brian.

At The Photography Show bought this dinky Sirui 4 way head, it folds down really small into a case and will take 10kg.

Hope you enjoy it Barrie, focus ring is firm enough to set on infinity and walk around all day without it moving on you, and it can focus pretty close too, looking forward to seeing some shots from it.

Purchased a Samsung/Schneider D-XENON 50-200mm F4-5.6 a much maligned lens but for £25 from CEX who will buy it back tor £16 when I'm done I think it's a steal. I'm going to Mexico in May and Italy in August and decided to get this rather than take my 55-300 PLM. The day after I purchased an As new Pentax DA 12-24 ED IF for £250 and it is mint but not taking that one with me either. That's my Kit almost done now all I'm wanting now is a 1.4x converter and thanks to Pentax's philosophy of compact lightweight quality I believe I have some great options for all my photo needs.

I haven't owned the PLM, but the older 55-300mm is significantly better than the 50-200 (I have the WR version) and I believe the PLM version is better still. The 55-300 is bigger and heavier though, so I can understand you may not want to travel with it, and for 25 quid it's a bargain.

For my part, I bought a Cullman tripod strap which I hope will be a lot more comfortable than the crappy case with strap I currently use to carry my tripod around.

The D-Xenon 50-200 seems to come alive with good light and I found it more enjoyable to use than the 55-300.

Was never totally convinced by the 55-300 (original version, metal mount) and to some extent wished I had not been swayed by comments here to get it.

Perhaps it was subconsciously the extra weight that had a bearing on my opinions?

The DFA 150-450. I got it on Black Friday, took it with me on holidays, shot some winter sports, some portraits, landscapes, and it's doing great now that spring is coming here in Greece. It sure is a versatile lens!

That's my first pic on Pentax User!

When the DFA 150-450mm first appeared the bokeh didn't look to good, but it looks OK on that butterfly and it also looks a bit 3D to me. Very nicely captured.

Thank you Algernon,
It's a wonderful lens, it really deserved that *. Any other company would have given the premium label. I've been particularly happy with the bokeh and pop, as you point out, i didn't expect it to be that good. Of course, give a lens some twigs and leaves in the oof background, at just the wrong distance, and it won't be pretty. One has to follow the butterfly around until it rests on the right flower! Which brings me to AF accuracy in spot mode: superb!
