True story.
So I bought myself an Olympus OM1 with a 50mm off ebay that had just been fully stripped down and serviced with receipts to show all the work carried out. I paid on PayPal credit as I didn't have the funds in the bank till a week after so it was a way of buying it before I had the money. Doing that transaction, as I went through the motions, it told me the monthly amounts etc, even telling me they'd give me £3k to spend if I wanted to do so.
Fast forward to 2 days ago and I'm remembering when the jet black K1(?) was out and I had the finance approved on the SRS website and all I had to do was press go and it'd be here, but I chicken out, so I decide to research cameras for sale, looking for said camera online etc. I come across a K1 mk 2 for sale on MPB that's up for £1200 amd has 700 clicks on the shutter.
Cut a long story short I wonder about adding it to the PayPal credit I've taken out for the OM1 so I add it to basket. A quick look on student beans finds me a code for 5% off so that's £60 saved.
Anyway I go through the same process as the OM1 but it doesn't say a monthly amount, so I press continue.
Que a screen that now says "you're all set" and I've bought it!! Apparently it's coming Friday and I'm still non the wiser how much per month it is!

Yup

Fully manual camera like the K1000. Bought it as I always wanted one back in the day but could only afford the OM10

When I had to move a year and half ago I simply didn't have room for all my photo gear and got rid of some, and vowed not to buy anything unless it was something I really wanted. As a result, I've been gifted a Kodak Hawkeye Brownie, a Polaroid Model 95 Land camera, an MX with a third party zoom on it and a K1000 with an M50/2. Add to that my K500/4.5 that I bought pre-pandemic that was languishing in Ohio for almost four years until I was able to collect it in May and the Auto-Tak I'm about to buy from John...

Lots of film bodies, a couple of digital ones, too many lenses (mainly older glass) and a Horseman LE 5x4.

I just got a Lumix 16-35mm f/4 for using on my S5, the first ultra-wide I've had since the Sigma 10-20/3.5.
I also have an Exa camera incoming which includes the waist-level viewfinder. The Exa I have is in much better condition but only has the eye-level viewfinder so this way I'll have both. I think it comes with a 50/2.8 which I'll sell and hopefully recoup the cost of the whole package. I'm looking forward to having a 35mm camera with a WLVF, even if it's a camera as limited as an Exa.

I have enough Pentax lenses and bodies to keep me happy and busy, however I have always wanted a much smaller (jacket) pocketable Pentax simply for the convenience.
In my quest for this I have acquired:
The Q and Q7 and their lenses,
The MX-1,
The Ricoh GRD i ii, iii, and iv,
The GXR plus lens/sensor attachments, and
The GR ii and iii.
These are all lovely cameras, especially the latest GRs, but all have a limitation; e.g. lack of user friendly controls, sensor limitations, no raw files, fixed focal length (28mm equiv.) or lack the essential-for-me built in eye level viewfinder.
Finally I bought a digital LX - not by Pentax or Ricoh, but the Lumix LX100 ii by Panasonic.
It is exactly what I was looking for, A good MFT sensor, a neat fast built in and retractable Leica zoom lens, aperture ring, shutter speed and exposure compensation dials, on lens focus / zoom ring and importantly an eye level viewfinder. It comes with a host of other features too many to mention.
The burning question is - Why did Pentax produce something like this? It complements their DSLRs perfectly for the times when I want a fully functioning but pocketable real camera.
Suffice to say that I'm a very happy bunny now.

M Canon Pixma just died and try as I may I could not resuscitate it. So I've invested in a very affordable Epson EcoTank ET-1810. Comes with gallons (slight exaggeration) of ink and so far I'm very pleased with it indeed.

What downsides? I too have bought a TTArtizan version and, to date, I haven't managed to get any soap bubbles out of it at all. It's plenty sharp however and I suppose it's a bonus that I haven't got it to flare badly either.

Finding one in good condition for starters. And when you do they are very, very expensive. In fact even the ones in poor condition are disproportionately expensive. When you do spot one that appears to be a good price, further inspection reveals it to be in Exacta mount rather than m42. Talking of poor condition: stiff focus rings, seized or slow aperture, fungus, haze, scratches to the glass and poor body work. Unless you can service lenses yourself, a professional service will rack up the cost considerably. Yes it's nice to own a vintage lens with history but it has to be useable. The TTArtizan being new suffers none of these maladies and is considerably cheaper. Well worth the money in my opinion, especially if arty glass is your thing.
I've only just received my lens in the last 24 hours and have not yet had the opportunity to play with it properly. My good friend however, who also recently acquired one makes this recommendation,
Quote:
Dappled light, shining through the leaves of a tree, angled almost directly towards you, is a recipe made in heaven. The bubbles are wafer-thin; almost translucent. Not just transparent.
But there should be no clouds; diffusing the sunlight. And you need a proper hood. Even having to use your hand above the hood; to reduce glare.

If you are photographing small subjects, as the minimum focus distance (the only downside in my opinion) is quite long, a small extension will make all the difference.
Bottom line is, with experimentation and practice will come soap bubbles. Enjoy!

Bit late with this.
My latest photo-related acquisitions are:
K1 Mk iii + Grip
Epson V600 Slide/Negative scanner.
The camera got a good work-out in Germany & Prague during October, the scanner is still in its box, pending a re-fit of my office in a couple of weeks to give me more room - around a thousand slides to scan and I don't know how many negatives. Definitely a winter project,
