What camera would be optimal for shooting product images of leather jackets?

Which camera would you recommend for capturing high-quality images during a leather jacket shoot? Looking for a reliable option to showcase the jackets' details and textures effectively.

Any fairly modern camera should do the trick I would think. If printing big I'd go for the 36 mega pixel K1 II. or in APS-c the K3 III. For the fine detail and general rendering it comes down to the lens choice, and of course the skill of the photographer in lighting and setting up the shots and the camera settings. A good photographer will make even the basic camera kit shine, someone who doesn't know what they are doing can spend a fortune on the kit and only get poor/average images.

I imagine you'd be using some artificial lighting so it doesn't really matter as long as it's reasonable modern.

For general use and also small details I'd say the DA 35mm f/2.8 Macro Limited is the best choice. It's a great lens and compatible with any Pentax DSLR with an APS-C sensor (or on a K-1 in crop mode, which I think is around 16MP).

To be honest - any DSLR made in the last 10-15 years will do. Just look at brochure of the Nikon D3 launched in 2008 you get stunning quality from a 12MP sensor. to print to A3 size.

If you want to print bigger then a higher pixel count will be required, not too much but anything with minimum 20MP made in the last few years will do...

Glassware is more important, pick a prime to get optimal quality if you need to hone in on the finest details....and watch the lights to avoid too much shadow or highlight - shadow noise would be a big bugbear of the older sensors.

Almost all my review product shots are from my Pentax K-3 II with the 18-135mm lens. Stopped down to f/16 to ensure enough depth of field it does the job very well. It's as much about lighting as the camera.
