The clue is in the title: Weekly Competition. It comes round every week. If you can't enter it for any reason then there's another one due next week.
David Storm won last week's competition fair and square and the choice is entirely his. Give him a break.
David, if you get a low entry console yourself that you will have a lot less work to do this weekend when judging it. But you could yet get a rush of entries as people realise the posibilites.

Reading all this with interest.

My son bought his first DSLR just before Christmas, a KR and kit lens. Next purchase, an M 50mm. Within a month of Pentax ownership he had, like so many others, an old manual lens so I don't think the subject is too restrictive.

Good luck with the completion.

I have loads of manual focus lenses, but no pics of anything that fits the theme "rejuvenation"

I am away, without any of my MF lenses, so will probably not be able to get an entry in this week, but it's good to see that despite all the moaning there's a good set of entries building up.

But what difference is manual focus meant to make to the image. If it's in focus it's in focus

It's just a competition theme Barrie! Nothing too deep about it but I wanted to see shots taken with older manual focus lenses which demonstrate skill in manually focussing which can't be demonstrated with auto-focussing! I like to see manual focussing used creatively.

I do understand that many people won't enter, but I have not set out to upset anyone and most people on the site don't enter most of the competitions anyway. Hope this makes sense!

Regards
David

I think the reason for people on the site not entering most of the competitions, is nothing to do with the competition theme, but the difficult/complex method in uploading images to this site.

I am also a member of the (Disabled Photographers Society), uploading an image to that site is easy, in fact it is that easy, I can do it.

So why canít all sites make uploading images easy, this, Pentax User, site is not the only difficult one.

David, I see nothing wrong with your theme.

Take care.

Uploading for the Weekly Competition is very straightforward.

Just click 'Upload' and select the relevant image from your hard drive.

I really don't see how it could be any easier.

The Forum itself is different and requires a link to a hosting website.

The thing that puts me off the weekly competition is having to judge the next one, in the extremely unlikely event of winning!

That would be really scary!

It's a fair comment that anyone entering the weekly competition should be prepared to have a go at setting and judging the nextr one.

I too can't see how uploading to the weekly competition could be any simpler. It makes the process quicker if the file size is reasonable, but that's the only thing to think about.

Linking into a forum is by necessity more complicated, but not too onerous if we follow the instructions.
Best regards, John

I'm reading all of this with some amusement

I have no agenda other than enjoying using this site, which I do for almost 100% of the time. I try always to be honest / open when placing comments on images, or posts in forums.

When setting the competition theme I have attempted to set something that is:

- Interesting
- Challenging
- A little different from the norm

I didn't expect the reaction it has received, but I dont get upset or dissilusioned by this. I understand everyone has their own view and I accept this 100%.

The forum and site in general would be dull if we all agreed with each other. As long as it does not descend into personal insults (which it has done on rare occasions), this is fine by me.

Thanks to everyone who has entered the competition and also to everyone who has contributed to the debate!

Best wishes

Just a quick update on this week's competition - we have already had 15 entries and we're not yet at the weekend, so it's not going to be 'a record low entry' as was predicted earlier this week

The standard of the entries is extremely high - I would recommend you pop on and have a look as there are some superb images already posted. I will have a hard time picking a winner this week.

Thank you to everyone who has entered, and for those who haven't there is still plenty of time left.

Best wishes
David
