Don't know what budget you are working to but if it will stretch to it, SRS are offering the excellent Sigma 8-16mm on one of their Specials!

Cheers for the tip on the 8-16 on SRS by the way. My budget is somewhere around the 200 mark - ish . I think on a higher budget the 8-16 would be a no brainer for me.

It still is a 'no brainer'! With your budget you're halfway there so go for it. At worst you might be a couple of hundred quid in debt. So what! Just go without meals every other day for a few weeks and you will soon claw it back. Possession of the 8-16mm will put you on a higher spiritual plane; you will be in lens heaven, sooooo happy you won't even feel the hunger. You won't be found wanting either. The 8-16mm is as wide as it gets. It will be brand new with full warranty and comparatively speaking at the price 'SRS' have it, investing in used and less capable doesn't make sense. It's probably very morally wrong of me to tempt you so, but LBA is like sex, it just has to be satisfied! lol... so go for it!

Seriously, good luck and best wishes....
