Yup ... one of many
I did see one for sale a few years ago at ffordes but by the time I had actually made up my mind to purchase it the lens had sold. It was quite a reasonable price as well.

I've no experience with the FA 400mm, but reports are that a crop from the DA 300mm is sharper. Wouldn't a DA 300mm with HD 1.4x TC be a better bet for an f5.6 lens around 400mm?

No.
I have the 300mm and 1.4x and while it is a sharp combination the autofocus speed and tracking accuracy is pretty dire. As I am looking for a prime to use at airshows the 400mm would seem about perfect when combined with the K-3

I know it's a little off topic Mike. You mentioned airshows. Was just wondering if you had any experience at Yeovilton Air Show?

I'm pretty happy with the 300+TC, but I see what you mean a screwdrive lens could be faster. Interesting experiment. Have you got a AF 1.7x? This might give a indication of screwdrive speed with the DA 300. Maybe even the 300 can be flashed to screw drive like the DA16-50 (I'm not brave enough to try it!)

Went for the first time last year and thoroughly enjoyed it. I have next Saturday booked off work for this years show but it's looking a bit sparse when it comes to the fast jets ... seems to be mainly prop planes. Also it looks like the Red Arrows are not going either.
Trouble is after going to RIAT last week and watching 8 hours of action everything else looks a bit tame really.
