Was walking past (well, actually did it intentionally, 'cause you never know what you might find!) the local Cash Converters this morning, and they had one of the above in the window - and with various prices on it!

Had a look inside and asked to see it - almost mint condition, glass looks clean outside and it, focusing and zoom are smooth and it has the original Vivitar lens cap AND the Vivitar box! The rear lens cap is a genuine Pentax one as well, so it looks like this came from a loving Pentax owner, but one who never used it much! 7.99 although it seems to have started at around 40 some weeks/months ago!!!

Pentaxforums reviews look quite good - anyone got one, and can comment ?

Looks like I got myself a macro bargain (if and when I ever get time to use it for that purpose, which I won't in the next few months)!
K-3 II, K-3 and a K-70 from SRS (having now relegated the K-30 /"K-50" to a backup body), & some Sigma and Pentax lenses (and a lot of old 35mm gear!)

One of the first lenses I bought back in 1986. Took thousands of pics on it back then. Still got it.

Got yourself a bargain there.

I have a 28 to 105 - buy it would be my advice

Not sure what this one is but the general advice seems to be that the viv series one lenses are best if they are the f2.8 versions
K10D, K5 plus plenty of clueless enthusiasm.

I should have read the title - clearly it is f2.8 - if you don't want it let the rest of us know where it is

For this level of beer money - not a chance unless I become destitute!

By now I think you get the idea that I did, and with a big smile (from my film days I still have 19-35 Cosina-built Vivitar S1, with which I was more than impressed on the old MZ-5N, so this was pretty much a no-brainer!)!

Probably not very good on digital.

The Pentax_F SMC 28-80mm f/3.5 - 4.5 would be a better bet.

If you want Bling they did a Gold-Plated version of the
28-105mm which stands out quite well even though the
performance is poor.

I've got the better Kiron 28-105mm as well as the Series 1
but they both fall well short of the Pentax_F SMC 28-80mm
which also has better colours.
Half Man... Half Pentax ... Half Cucumber

Pentax K-1 + K-5 and some other stuff

Well, if it isn't then it will still be a "pretty" item for the photographic memorabilia collection!

While It's not upto the par of many modern lenses, I had some cool pics from it on my K20D.

So, if I get some gold paint (and a steady hand!) I could be in line to make a few quid?
