Very interesting, it shows yet again how much can be achieved with square format.

I often crop my pics to square format. ( amongst other aspect ratios ). My shooting buddy seems to want to restrict himself to whatever aspect the sensor is.

And what a great slide show!! She even took a pic of a discarded bag of chips on the pavement. A woman right on my wavelength. That's exactly the sort of thing I would shoot in the street

What a find, Pictures of every day life, lucky or careful composition? Pictures of real merit and should be seen world wide.

I would say a bit of both. I do a lot of street photography and it's about seizing the moment so getting a good composition out of the box can be a matter of luck. But then I do try and compose as best I can before the moment has gone.

but then these days it's a lot easier to get home upload to the computer and relax and crop after the fact

She seems to have got great composition from the shutter press. Full respect!!

It is an illusion that photos are made with the camera… they are made with the eye, heart and head. Henri Cartier-Bresson
Lots of film bodies, a couple of digital ones, too many lenses (mainly older glass) and a Horseman LE 5x4.

What makes this work stand out is the broad tonal scale the artist pulled from the negative and then translated into the print. A rare combination of gift, skill and artistry.

Sadly not. Most of her film was unprinted and much of it undeveloped. Any skill in this area is down to the scanning put into it by the chap who found the images.

Apart from being top quality from 6x6 negatives I'm not that impressed
with them. The viewpoint is unusual, the Rollei was probably held at
waist level. Some shots may have been intended for cropping. I suppose
it's still early days and proper B&W prints from the negatives may
be a lot better. Some of the subjects are more interesting
than the photos.

Another very good woman photographer who did a lot of street
photography but was never really considered an exceptional
photographer was Gina Lollobrigida, she was also a very
good artist and sculptor.
I bought her 1973 book "Italia Mia" some nice shots in it.
