Isn't it a shame there is only one time slot 2100hrs available for half decent programs. This applies to ALL the channels. I've a second hdd recorder so should be able to record it. Then I can watch it in bed and it won't matter if it turns out to be boring

I didn't think it was all that good. Partly because they kept
showing photos by the photographer that presented it, that were
all burnt out by flash. The original Life photos were all
available light.

I used to subscribe to Life right up to the end in 1972.
It was ludicrously cheap by subscription they were obviously
trying to sell as much as possible. It was quite expensive
on the news stands though. I never kept any it was too big

An entertaining hour- some real characters working at that magazine in its heyday.

Sounds like they were pretty fearless too.

The production itself was not that good- i didn't find Rankin particulalry watchable. I guess he is a "name" to encourage people to watch- Does anyone remember the programme last year where he tried to re-create classic Hollywood photos? That is worth a look if its online anywhere

Rankin did a good job and recognised his own specialism and how the life photographers had distinct tallents.

Rankin''s portraits at the end were a treat and watching him compose them was like a mini masterclass.

I'd much rather Rankin did this kind of thing than a presenter or d-lister.

I only caught the last 30 mins though.
Lurking is shirking.!

Agreed but I would have liked to have seen a news tog who knows the specific demands that are placed on these guys rather than a guy who admitted he rarely leaves the studio.

I like the look of his Leica set up though- bordering on product placement at times. not many people have £20k to blow on a camera though!
