showing photos by the photographer that presented it, that were
all burnt out by flash. The original Life photos were all
available light.
I used to subscribe to Life right up to the end in 1972.
It was ludicrously cheap by subscription they were obviously
trying to sell as much as possible. It was quite expensive
on the news stands though. I never kept any it was too big

Sounds like they were pretty fearless too.
The production itself was not that good- i didn't find Rankin particulalry watchable. I guess he is a "name" to encourage people to watch- Does anyone remember the programme last year where he tried to re-create classic Hollywood photos? That is worth a look if its online anywhere
Rankin''s portraits at the end were a treat and watching him compose them was like a mini masterclass.
I'd much rather Rankin did this kind of thing than a presenter or d-lister.
I only caught the last 30 mins though.
I like the look of his Leica set up though- bordering on product placement at times. not many people have £20k to blow on a camera though!
As long as he's not Rankin, Peston style
You mean Robert Peston?
'Ro......berrrrrt... Pe...
....
...ston'?
