The peacock feather and an ancient lens.

One of my folding camera lens conversions is an Ensar f4.5 100mm made in the late 1920s by Houghtons, London. I put it onto a bellows this morning with a Pentax K1 and excavated a small peacock's feather from the bits and pieces at the back of my desk. Lighting is from a north facing window which entailed some quite long exposures at ISO100.

For a lens and shutter that have almost attained 'antique' status I can't find much to complain about. Also, of minor interest is the Art Deco decoration of the era on the face of the shutter.

Fascinating! That's a pretty good result from an almost 100 year old lens and for all your effort in bringing it back to life.

But it raises a big question: why was there a peacock feather buried at the back of your desk when most of us have dead spiders...??

Oh, most of my spiders are very much alive! Fortunately, they ensure that very little else remains so.
