My K50 is massively underexposed using the view finder but seems to be ok using live view. Is there any setting I've missed that could be causing this or is it most likely hardware? Of course it had to happen at the start of a fort night holiday

You could check to see that you are not set to spot metering. This can cause exposure problems if unaware that it's set. Try centre weighted or matrix metering and that should solve that problem.

Sadly not set to centre weighed.just using it in TAV to get me through the holiday then off for repair I guess, have a feeling it may just be out of its two years though

Pentax repaired my K-30's aperture motor recently despite it being 6 weeks or so outside the two year warranty

Put in on E Bay for spares or repairs and buy a good used K-5!

I would strongly advise not to pay that for a repair. Does anyone know what the likely used value of a good K30 would be now?

I still feel it is best to put any money that has to be spent towards a new camera.

Agreed. A good used K-30 body goes for just under £200

Nothing wrong with the penta-club.ru forum One of the TOP Pentax sites.

They come up with loads of fixes and first rumours of new releases.

They discovered the original Degug Hack for the K-10

http://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/6-pentax-dslr-discussion/27040-k10d-firmware-...

They are very polite as well who on here would begin a post..

The hardest part is taking the camera to bits. Then the problem is a permanent magnet that slides between the two copper coils shown. It sticks and the solution is to sand a bit off, but no one has indicated which bit????

The article does seem to confirm that the magnet is the problem.

I wonder why the repair is so expensive???? No parts needed.

Are you going to offer a repair service for broken K-30's Algi? It might be quite profitable.
