Testament to Pentax lens

I very seldom post anything on the forum but today I need to. Watching golf, half asleep, neighbour knocked on window "the NHS Spitfire is coming our way shortly get your camera". Grabbed said camera and waited in garden, sure enough Spitfire appeared but about a mile plus away. So I went through the motions really but on the camera I already had my long kit. The result surprised me, no it is not a great photograph but a testament to Pentax. My "long kit" consists of my K3ii + 300mm SMC DA*+HD DA 1.4 AF Converter. Comment Image

As you say, quite a testament to its abilities.
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass

Agree 200%. And nice to see the NHS Spitfire. An excellent 'grab' .

I had a similar experience a few weeks ago with the same kit (but K3 not K3ii). Out photographing butterflies when a warship appeared in the distance - about 4 miles away. Not much time before it disappeared behind a rise in the ground, so I pointed and pressed the shutter button. Here's the result. Turned out it was HMS Lancaster, getting ready for operations after a refit, visited by the Queen (as Duke of Lancaster) in Portsmouth a few days before.

Thanks for comments. Ex RN many, many years ago. Good shot from that distance. I am constantly amazed by Pentax lens. Also by my own ability to hand hold a heavy set up. Happy days.
