TBA: HD PENTAX-DA 20-40mm F2.8-4 ED Limited DC WR
May pick one up from the US though.
"It allows the photographer to optimise the subject’s visual description, by making its appearance softer at larger apertures and sharper at smaller apertures."
Which seems means it is soft wide open. Usually high end lenses try to design that out! Reminds me of a principle of software design - a 'feature' is a bug you could not get rid of!

Our models will appreciate a little softness.
But it's an unproven point at this stage.
The size and WR of this beauty is edging it right now though anyway
Oh dear. This or the Sigma. I can't afford both, barely one... looks like it will be a race between release dates for me. Despite being on the Sigma website for months no actual Pentax mount version seems forthcoming, perhaps its a sign.....
The Sigma in Pentax mount is confirmed as 2014 I believe ...
I think John means the DA 20-40
Yes, I did mean that.

It's a shame they decided to make it DC and WR
But that's part of the attractiveness of the Pentax range. It will go beautifully with the WR bodies as a versatile standard zoom. Most users have been asking for the DC motor and WR.
I for one wouldn't want a lower standard. I can wait for the price to stabilise.
