I am thinking of buying the Tamron SP AF 28-75mm f2.8 XR Di LD Aspherical IF Lens for my *ist DL2, does anyone use this combination?
All the reviews I have read are very good but all are reviewed on Canon or Nikons (suprise, suprise).

Some people would consider that it's not a very good focal length range for an APS-C sized sensor. It will equate roughly to 35mm to 105mm.

Personally I am waiting for Pentax's new 16-50mm 1:2.8, which will incorporate in-lens focussing. And then perhaps the 50-135mm 1:2.8, if funds permit.

It would actually give the same field of view as a 42mm-112mm zoom would for 35mm film. Depends really what subjects you're taking, but I, and many others, prefer a much wider angle, such as that given by the 18-55, 16-45 lenses etc. I've gone for the 16-45mm, but I can see the attraction for George.

Well, you did say 'roughly', and I was being a nitpicker!

I have this lens - use it on an *istD. It does give some very nice results, even though still need something a bit wider at times. It balances quite nicely with the grip on *istD
