I bought this lens recently as a local purchase off Gumtree. It came with no box, instructions or lens hood. It came with a Jessops UV filter. All for 45.
I've checked the Tamron website and the images of the Pentax fit A17 doesn't match this one. The one on their website shows an AF/MF switch whereas the one I bought has an aperture ring - as per the enclosed image.
Does anyone have any knowledge of this lens - or the manufacturers instructions? I'm particularly interested in why when the macro switch is switched and I've taken an image at 1:2 at the closest focussing distance when the lens barrel is at it's max - the lens barrel will then not retract and you cannot throw the macro switch back to the normal position. You effectively have to focus on a further distant object then the lens barrel retracts and the macro switch can then be moved back to the normal position.

Thanks
Jamie

Hi Jamie,
The lens you have looks exactly like mine, The operation of the macro focusing is correct, On your focus ring you will see a gold band between 0.95 and 1.5 m, If you are focused between those two distances the macro switch will remain locked, focus between 1.5m and infinity and the switch will unlock......simples

I dont think the one on Tamrons site is a Pentax fit looks more like Can/Nik fitting and I think they have the Af/Mf switch.
Cliff.

For 45 that looks like a bargain!

I have one of these and find it a super lens.

Although I now tend to use my Tamron 18-250 as a go anywhere lens, this one still comes out when the birds are playing in the back garden.

I believe that those are better at the 300mm end than the Sigma 70-300 I have
K10D, K5 plus plenty of clueless enthusiasm.

I just wish Tamron would bring the VC version out in Pentax fit but the reply to my email to them was basically "Sod off your not having it"
