I have the Tamron Adaptall mounts for Pentax K,KA and M42. but I've not come across this one before.

I was wondering what the geared system was for?

I have a lens with one of these at home. I'll check it out this evening. I suspect it is to transfer the aperture setting to the camera so that the open-aperture metering can work. If I remember correctly, only the F, ES and ESII had open aperture metering.

Lots of film bodies, a couple of digital ones, too many lenses (mainly older glass) and a Horseman LE 5x4.
