Thanks Jon, bought the Tamron.

Recently sold my Pentax 70-200mm as it was a lot of money tied up in a lens I rarely used but I can live with 300 sitting in the cupboard doing very little

Pleasantly surprised actually, autofocus isn't great but it's half decent at f/2.8

Yep this is one of those lenses that goes from dreamy to razor sharp with the slightest change in aperture. The other is the DA*55.
