I've just got a new Tamron 17-50 and have just noticed that when set all the way over to 50mm it reports 34mm to the body, zooming slightly back from this length it is sending the correct information back to the body, all the way down to 17mm. I'm wondering wether to live with it rather than live without it during the time it will take to send back and obtain a new one. Have others had this issue with their 17-50s?

Mine works fine.

I'd give the contacts a clean, just in case. This problem could conceivably give you blurry shots because the SR needs to know the correct focal length in order to adequately compensate for camera shake.
