Strong stormy weather and difficult lighting conditions made capturing any images at Porthcawl Lighthouse on Sunday a real challenge. 80+ mph winds, sea spray, rogue waves and a topnotch breakfast at the Pier Point Cafe made the 3am start all worthwhile. This was my first attempt at capturing a storm at the coast and big waves at that. A lot was learnt on Sunday just gone.

Your early starts do tend to reap rewards. My brain simply won't function in the morning when the hour only has one digit.
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass

Thanks, it takes its toll nowadays, no longer able to burn the candle at both ends without some repercussions

The way the water reaches into the clouds is quite powerful - with an almost peaceful sense of fulfillment.

I prefer the image at 1m 42s into the video as I also don't like the dark vignette but that's not to say its bad as we all have different tastes.
