Standard zoom options for the K1
It's pretty light and compact too.
Currently I have the Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 HSM, Pentax 24-90mm, Pentax 28-105mm and a old Tamron 24-135mm and I have to say the Tamron gets used most of the time.
If they don’t suit, and you’re on a budget, and you don’t mind going old school, might be worth adding the Tokina 28-70 ATX Pro/Pro II to the list... I bought one years ago in preparation for full frame... my copy was gt on the K1... only moved it on as I had the DFA 24-70 and FA 24-90... it’s big, and heavy, but built like a tank... f2.8, and gt iq in my experience... if you shop around, should be able to get one around £200ish or below...
Gd luck with your search...
Best
I did see someone had said the Pentax 24-90mm has Stella optics but then marked it down for being a bit wobbly with the zoom barrel which can effect focus and also some copies are reported to be soft as well but these were on older bodies and not the K1.
I know there are good and bad copies of everything so don't really go on them too much. I have the Sigma 70-200mm and Tokina 20-35mm so don't need the full zoom range of the Pentax and my walkabout lens is a FA35mm so would the Tamron be better?
My outfit: K1ii - Pentax D FA 24-70mm f2.8 - Pentax DA* 300mm f4 - Pentax modified DA* 60-250mm f4 - Irix 15mm Firefly - Pentax FA 35mm - FA 50mm f1.4 - Tamron SP 90mm macro - Pentax AF 540 FGZ II

Thank you everybody for your replies. I'm currently torn between either the Tamron 28-75mm or the Pentax 24-90mm. Having looked online there are both good and bad reviews of both so I'm torn which one to get. Is anybody able to say if they have either of these lenses or have owned both of them to give me an update as to which would be the better.

What's more important, the extra range of the 24-90 zoom or the faster f2.8 of the Tamron, everything else being equal? Whether everything else is equal or not is another matter! I have the 24-90 and find it OK but it does have zoom creep. If you can run to it, the new(ish) Pentax DFA 28-105 is better built and performs as well as (if not better than) the DFA 24-70
That said, the 24-90 is a good lightweight lens so if weight is an issue its a good compromise. But being a lightweight lens could also be considered to be its achilles heel, it just isn't as robust.

So my new standard zoom lens is here, plus a little gift from Steve Everitt for shooting his daughter's wedding
Mental less than a month ago I thought full frame was out of my reach but now I'm fully full framed up with the K3ii kept as a back up camera.

Photography and anorexic wallets seem to go hand in hand!!!

What you need are lenses, more lenses, bigger lenses, better lenses, faster lenses, vintage lenses and when you have these, your pictures will be perfect!
I've done alright with the selling of old lenses and purchasing of new that the lenses have cost less than £100 to upgrade too. Biggest thing was the K1 purchase that cost a grand but I was going to sell the K3ii to part fund it but my good wife to keep it as a back up body!
Last piece of the jigsaw is the £2 eBay from China 67-77mm step ring to allow me to use filters on the 28-105mm!

They're definitely not FF compatible mainly because that wide end of 17mm is super wide (so there would be significant vignetting). If they were FF compatible I'm sure many people would have snapped one up for the ultra versatile range
Apologies, I thought early versions of that lens were FF-compatible.
