My 150-450mm arrived yesterday and I managed to get out this afternoon for a few hours. I don't post pictures on the forum anymore because of the ridiculous size limit imposed during the revamp but I thought some might like to see how the lens performs.

Few taken with the 1.4x @ 630mm ... hand held but really needs some sort of support.

This looks a fantastic lens, but coupled with the K-3 ii in Jules link, it's even better. I can't see any point in FF if results from the K-3 ii are that good.

I've been deliberating if this lens is good enough to replace my Da55-300, DA*300 and Sigma 100-300.

Of on holiday today so have a week to think about it but I think all three will be going in to the classifieds soon
Cheers
Brian.

Unfortunately first one is Yeovilton in July.

As much as loved both those lenses (especially the 50-500mm) from the very limited use I have had from the 150-450mm I would say it was worthwhile.

I am more than likely selling my DA* 300mm very soon, the 100-300mm has already gone but I will keep the 55-300mm because tbh it makes such a small dent in the cost of the 150-450mm and it's a lightweight quality lens.

Looks like a cracking lens for those with a penchant for long focal lengths (and pockets deep enough to pay for the proclivity).
Best wishes,

Andrew

Well I am not that impressed - some of those birds lack a lot of feather detail - especially that one that somebody has tattooed 'flybe' on the side of

Looks good Mike and I am sure in your hands it will produce some excellent images - please start sharing again!

How fast is the AF Mike?

From the very limited use I have had it seems pretty good, certainly faster than the 50-500mm and as fast as the 100-300mm f4 (which I have always thought was one of the fastest, if not the fastest focusing long lens in Pentax mount). I should imagine it's slightly faster on the K-3/II although I have yet to see any definitive proof that the II has more accurate/ faster AF/tracking than the original K-3.

The focus limiter certainly helps and I would imagine the pre-set focus buttons would be handy as well but unfortunately Pentax haven't seen fit to issue a firmware update to enable them on the K-5II/s.
