Why would anyome want to adjust any buying purely due to a company being taken over? I do not understand.
They could use a different mount on the next DSLR

Why would they?
They will sooner drop the DSLR then change the mount I believe.

Because some people (I'm not among them) think that the purchase by Ricoh will lead to the death of Pentax's K-mount DSLRs (either by no new DSLRs, or not being K-mount, or any other permutation) and that they will therefore have to switch systems. The cost of switching is greater the more Pentax kit you have (i.e. with the exception of those who bought at pre-hike prices, you won't get back what you paid for it), so for those who are of that opinion it makes sense to not 'get in any deeper'.

If Canon took them over I'd jump ship to Nikon

Not going to happen, they even used a derivative of the K mount originally.

If your names Ricoh and you make cameras and people advise others not to put any old Ricoh lenses on it because they get stuck what would you do? At the very least the screw drive will have to go, which will cause even more confusion. Simplest solution is a new mount the same way Canon, Minolta and Olympus did.

Way too expensive, why will the screw drive have to go?

Didn't Ricoh make a solar powered SLR years ago?
Just thinking it would be a neat trick if your DSLR could recharge its batteries from daylight. I doubt the solar cells could power the thing alone but if they could top up the battery charge while you were having lunch in a cafe with the camera on the table next to you...
it was one of those "Good Idea, Bad Idea" scenarios..... keep your batteries charged=Good Idea. Leaving your camera sitting out in the sun= Bad Idea....
Now sticking solar panels and a 12 volt battery onto an electrically cooled beer cooler.... better idea, more cooling power when you need it!
Yep, you would need to include "Do not leave camera in direct sunlight" but if it could charge from ambient light out of strong sun then it should be useful. I have a solar powered phone charger (actually more like a rechargeable battery which can either charge itself from the solar cell or USB) which charges in most light conditions.
