These three Pentaxians are all using Manfrotto Fluid Heads
with long lenses but does anyone know what the
splint attachment is holding the lens?... Seems to read
DPowers - Taiwan?

The Wimberly Mk II must top the list as the most practical mount. Expensive, yes but that goes with the territory.

A good fluid head is much better than a gimbal, but the top
ones are really expensive. Wouldn't mind one of these....

Works out as about 8500. After the matter of money it's only the transport to take care of

I'm in a bit of a quandary to be honest. I bought the lens mainly because it was a bit of a bargain, I have always wondered about the Pentax big lenses but have been happy enough with the Sigma 50-500mm most of the time. I have a Canon EF 300mmL f2.8 IS for my 7D and when coupled with the Canon 2x MKII converter the IQ and af speed is on a par with the 250-600mm ... and its half the weight. Yes I lose the zoom capability but I really can't see myself lugging a 6KG lens all over the place and I have already been offered nearly double what I paid for it ... and that's nowhere near 8500.

But on the other hand it's just such a rare lens and it would really look good sat on a shelf in the lounge ...

It's a superior version of the Velbon SPT-1 Telephoto Lens Support
Splint Plate which costs 50 on ebay link

I'm just curious about how much it costs and from where?

That hand-held shot looks impressive, it does look a fantastic lens. I can't see it ever dropping in value, I'd hang on to it for a while. You could always go on safari to give it a good work-out....

Can't imagine bouncing around on a safari jeep with one of those things. I would convert it into a free set of Ltds.

Thanks Bernard doesn't seem to be in use. I did find out about
a camera shop called D Powers, but the website listed dpo.com
doesn't seem to be in use either.

Probably a fairly new product so no doubt we'll hear more
about it in a few months.
