had. The 35-70mm f/4 is a very good lens, but the 28-80mm SMC
should be sharper. It was probably a lot more expensive in the day.
Make sure it is the SMC version, other versions inc. the
Takumar one were made by another factory. The most obvious
difference apart from saying SMC is that the lettering around
the filter end of the lens is upside down compared to the cheaper
versions and it has the usual cream/white wart for lens location
compared with red on the cheaper ones.
This was just a record shot of a gas tower being taken down 2 years ago....
SMC A 28-80mm at f/11 K-5 200ISO Handheld

And a full size (1:1 or 100%) crop of the upper left.
Most lenses would be very soft so close to the corner.

Note the lettering starts with SMC and is the right way
up when the lens is stood on the bayonet cap.

I've just managed to pick up a SMC FA 35-80 F4 from Ebay and it will just fit nicely between my 18.55 and my Sigma 70-300
You sir, are a genius, why have I never thought of this? My SMC F 35-70 just got promoted to my main camera bag! That should deal with my focal length gap between the 16-45 and 80-320!
you don't have to be mad to post here
but it does help
