Hi, had the misfortune to drop my lens last year, it was in it's case and dropped about a metre onto soft grass but needed attention.
sent it to a reliable repair agent in the UK and they've been able to get it fully functioning as a Manual Focus lens only. They sent it to Pentax UK but without returning it to Japan there's no way they can re-calibrate it here in the UK, which seems a bit odd.
I've now bought myself a new replacement as I rely on the Auto Focus quite a lot, so am wondering whether there's a market out there for this Manual only lens, just want to recover some of my costs (found out my insurance didn't cover it!)

It might sell reasonably well on eBay, if you can be bothered with the hassle?

Thanks, eBay has been tried by the repair agent but with few UK Pentax users, their attempts have been fruitless, thought I'd try the forum in case there's another outlet

I think you are going to have to state a ballpark figure at least because no doubt what you think it is worth and what others are likely to think think will be miles apart.
No equipment list here but thanks for taking an interest. My Flickr

I would have thought 300 -350 somewhere round there.

Is it worth having the lens properly repaired to realise the full s/h value ?

I've been told the cost to get it back to Japan, repaired and back here will exceed the probable resale value...

Who did say that?
Shipping to Japan and back should be between 100 to 150 pounds, no real need of extra insurance in this case.
I doubt repair would exceed 300 pounds. Reselling value of this one properly working should be around 1000-1200 pounds.
My maths tell me you should send it over.

(I have a brand new 150-450 for sale here so I am really not advising based on competition )

1st Aid Repairs still have the lens and we've decided to put it on eBay to see what happens, can't create a link directly to it but here's the title they've used:
Faulty Autofocus Pentax HD D FA 150-450mm f4.5-5.6ED DC AW Telephoto Lens

they've started the bidding at 200
