@ MikeP & others

Is this the later version of above lens https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/114930197671?mkevt=1&mkpid=0&emsid=e11021.m43.l3160&m...

And, if it is the later one, then how much do you think the final sale price should be?

Thanks in advance.

Yes it's the last version, bit rough though isn't it. Missing the hood extension for APS-C bodies, box, strap, case and front cap. If you are thinking of using it on a K-1, KP or newer then be careful of the mount. Also don't forget Sigma no longer service or repair Pentax mount lenses.

TBH I would be suprised if it went over the £400 starting price but then sometimes Ebay astounds me. Perfect condition with all the bits can be worth upwards of £700+

I've just paid £400 for one thru FaceBook MarketPlace. Was advertised at £450 for almost 2 months.
Mine is complete with both caps, step down ring, polarising filter, extended lens hood and the final/second (petal shaped) lens hood, strap, box, original reciepts BUT no case. I'm happy!
Mine tis the 2012 version - APO HSM DG OS

Tis a heavy blighter. Had my first outing with it today at RSPB Bempton. Tried birds in flight as well as those on the cliffs. I expect that you can guess which was easiest?

You did very well to get it at that price.

I've still got and use the screw drive version and it will be on my K1ii which it fits perfectly and maybe my K3ii at the end of the month at Silverstone for the British Moto GP.

At the back end of May this year I purchased a Sigma 120-400 for use with my K1. When it arrived I found that although it worked perfectly on my K3, it would not work at all with the K1 and the mount too was the original which did leave a small scratch on the K1. Following some research I learned that it wasn't compatible with the K1 out-of-the-box and required an update from Sigma. I decided not to keep the lens but before returning it I did contact Sigma UK via email about said issues and was pleasantly surprised to receive a reply within minutes. For the benefit of others who might be experiencing Sigma mount issues and related, here is Sigma's response:

"Hi Peter,
Sorry to hear you have an issue with your Sigma lens.
Please go to Repairs & support – Sigma UK (sigma-imaging-uk.com) and follow the instructions for sending it to us for an update and mount modification. We will do this free of charge.
Turnaround time is normally about one week and we will contact you once received.
Kind Regards

Can't argue with that!!!

I would be surprised if anything has changed since this time but of course there is no guarantee.

Sigma UK always answer their emails really fast, very friendly bunch as well.

Good to hear about the upgrade, maybe they are doing the work while parts are still available.

The response to Defragged's issue surprised me...

When I owned the Sigma 180 macro in Nikon fit, firmware upgrades on the D810 rendered the lens inoperable (but it still worked on the D500). Because the lens was EX Sigma wouldn't modify it as it wasn't a 'Global Vision' lens, ie not Art, Contemporary or Sport. I had the option of reversing the firmware update on the D810 but decided to sell the lens and replace it with the Nikkor 105 VR. The only non-OEM lens I have now is the Samyang 14mm 2.8MF.

This was about 2 years ago, so I am surprised Sigma are willing to deal with a PK-fit lens that isn't EX and pre-dates A, C and S.

Their loss.

Thanks and so I asked which of the standard accessories are included in the listing, and this is what the seller then said "Front and back cap, only one hood (one on pic) soft case (on pic) and I have strap but no original box"

The lack of the missing bits wouldn't really bother me, but I'll wait a while before deciding whether to bid.

"There's (almost!) always one" who puts in a tentative bid to test the water, on the basis that they'd pay the asking price but might be reluctant to pay much more if a bidding war starts

OTOH: bidders like that can also be friends of the seller who bid to help him/her "get things going" and thus encourage others to bid the price up - but if there are none of those then the seller might well end the listing before the due date/time in order to minimise any losses or because it's not meeting the target price that he/she has in mind.

I don't think that the latter is the likely situation in this case but I probably won't bid on the lens because I am still unsure if I actually want it - and I certainly don't "need" it - ATM.

Well, it went for £421.88 - only 3 bidders.
Anyone on here?
