Hi,

Just wondering what the effect is of using the *ist D lens (Sigma DC 18-50mm) on a normal Pentax SLR camera?

Will this actually work properly?

In a word No!

The Sigma lens is designed to be used with the APS sized sensor of a digital SLR. It then represents the 35mm equivalent of about a 28-75 standard zoom. Pictures taken on 35mm film with this lens will be vignetted.

If you have an *ist, Z-1/P or other camera that can set the aperture from the body try the pentax 18-35 FAJ it works fine on my Z-1 with no obvious signs of vignetting
