I noticed a real bargain on eBay and impulse made me buy it......couldn't help it.....any way the full description is the 'Sigma 28-300mm F3.5-6.3 Hyper zoon lens for Pentax K-AF'
It definately looks like the correct Pentax mount, but you know when you do someone is a rush and now I'm worried it may not work properly.
Please put me out of my misey, before it arrives and my husband says.....I told you sooooo
Thanks.
Joan.

Aslong as the lens is what it says on the box K-AF then yes it will work. CHEERS Vic. PS. Welcome to the club.
Born again biker with lots of Pentax bits. Every day I wake up is a good day. I'm so old I don't even buy green bananas.

I think I have an older version of this lens as mine is not the DG version. When I bought my first Pentax DSLR (well actually my first SLR, a *istDS in 2005) it was it was my first lens purchase after the 18-55 kit lens.
The 28 starting point probably suggests that it derives from an earlier full-frame, film, SLR background. While nowadays we might consider it to be a bit mediocre it was a very cost effective way of starting a lens collection and overlapped and expanded the range of the kit lens. I think macro on zoom lenses is a bit a of a compromise but I felt that it worked well enough for someone starting out to get a good feel before possibly laying out their savings on a dedicated macro lens.
I still have my version and while it does not get used much now it can be useful when cycling or travelling light when only wanting to carry a single lens and not being too sure what photo opportunities are going to arise.
Sigma lenses come with mounts for different brands of camera but providing this is the Pentax mount version then it should work well on your K-x.
I hope this helps,
Glyn

Thanks ever soo much for putting me out of my misery, now I will be able to tell hubby.....I told you sooooo!!
I am new to the whole DSLR world. Had an SLR many many years ago, then the little compacts kept getting better and better so moved to these, but I'm wanting a little bit more to do than point and shoot.
The K-x I'm finding is a super entry level camera which came with two lens, a 18-55 kit lens and a 200mm lens. I've found I'm using the 200mm lens practically all the time, I love the lack of depth of field the tele lens give on close up subjects, but on some of my subjects especially wildlife I don't seem to be able to get close enough (before they fly or run away!) with the 200 so I'm hoping although already having a 200mm the extra 100mm will give the extra oumph (and distance) I need for my perfect photo.
Thanks again for your help and I'm really enjoying this site, it's giving me great advice and inspiration.

Will the Sigma 28-300mm f3.5-6.3 DG Macro Lens work with the K-x?
