Sigma 28-300mm F3.5-6.3 DG Macro - aperture ring settting issue

Hi folks, putting second separate post for a day I've got a lens in the subject on ebay, all looks fine, however the aperture ring is doing a bit funny things. In the user's guide they say, to have it recognized by the camera I need to set the aperture ring onto "A" after lock; which in fact means to twist the aperture ring as far as possible to the right, then press lock button and move a bit more to the right. However in my lens I need to twist the ring as far to the left as I can, only then camera can control it. If I do as they say in the manual - I will get blinking "F---" Has anybody seen anything like that? Cheers, Igor

Suppose it depends which way you are holding the lens.

As long as it is set to the A position and you don't get the blinking F then all is well.

The direction - when it is attached to the camera and lens is looking forward;
The case is that it communicates with the camera when the ring is not set to "A", and it is not recognised when I set-lock the ring to "A", that's the point.

I'm not sure I'll do it I've just seen them today - nice couple of respectable age, they've driven down to Sheffield from another town to help me out with that. I realised they had used it in this way all the time without bothering about how it should be )) So I don't really feel to hassle them again. In fact the lens works, but the thing which bothers me - was that consequence of some drop, or unprofessional repair, or is it a manufacturer fault - are there any more such lenses doing same thing?

My Sigma 135-400mm developed a similar fault - even when in A, camera unable to control aperture. Lens hadn't been dropped or ill treated - just developed a fault.

Repaired by Sigma for just under £60 inc P&P, VAT etc. Postage cost me a shade over £20 (first class recorded next day delivery, £400 insured value).

Seems unlikely - why then it works in the opposite setting (in which it should not ).
Unless someone got with his hands inside it and mis-wired contacts when assembling back Joking D) Do not know to be honest what could it be.

When that fault happened did it still work with your camera in the opposite setting of aperture ring? Mine works when the aperture ring is set as it should not be
Mine cost me £108 including delivery - so do not think I want to spend £80 to get it set properly by Sigma
I've just seen the new one like that for £170 on ebay...
