I think it's a shame you've been scared off by the other thread. The 18-135mm has much to commennd it and it might be perfect for your purposes.
I've had one to test and I wouldn't hesitate to buy one as and when I need a lens of that sort of range. That isn't a cop-out, it's just acknowledging that I don't need one as I have quite enough lenses already!
When I do need such a lens, it will be the 18-135mm that gets my money. Lenses are not perfect, and I recognise qualities in it that I can exploit.

I have experience with Tammy 18-200. I used it for a few days and returned it. I did not like the performance....too soft. I have no experience of 18-135.

Finally gone for the Pentax. What finally tipped the scales was using for the first time the 18-55WR kit lens that came with the K5. It was much sharper and quicker to focus than my old 18-55. So, recognising that there's absolutely no logic to this decision, I came home and immediately ordered the 18-135WR from SRS for £309, as suggested by Exevalley. thanks again for comments.

The 18-135mm is great, the problem is value for money. Original price really put ppl off. Also the competition from sigma is very strong.
