hi guys, been thinking about a new lens for some time now.
i have found that my favourite subject to shoot is definitely wildlife.
i have narrowed my lens search down to the Sigma 150-600mm f5-6.3 Contemporary DG OS HSM Lens - Canon Fit.
as you can see.....CANON FIT...nooooooooo
right, as we all know sigma do not make them for a pentax fit.
i use a K3 and would love to know if any of you have used lens adapters???
are they any good? canon or nikon adapters to fit pentax k mount.
have any of you used them? do they affect the quality? and can you recommend a decent adapter?
this is a lens just about in budget for me as we all know to achieve anything near that focal length can cost ££££££'s in other brands
your help with be much appreciated
thank you all pentaxians

There's no such adaptor as far as I understand...... Forget that lens, or get a Canon camera to go with it.

Really??? I thought you could get them. It's the only lens in that budget. Not spending more than that. And certainly not switching from Pentax.

The most common lens related complaints we hear is that Sigma and Tamron don't make their lenses in Pentax fit any more.

If there was an adaptor possible then there'd be no need to complain.

Take a look at SRB Photographic, they have loads of adaptors including Canon to Pentax fit. Best to give them a call to check compatibility with the particular lens. However I donít believe any electronic controls activate so everything is manual.

Curiously a google search brings up many more adaptors for Pentax lenses on Canon bodies - a lesson there I think.

Manual everything? Would there be any aperture control with a modern "contemporary" series lens?

Surely it's a complete non starter on a Pentax DSLR .....

Seems to be false hope Ö.. a quick look at SRB only shows me Canon FD to Pentax K adaptors. This is an EOS system lens isn't it? Even the adaptors for the ancient FD lenses show no auto aperture or metering control.

balsembi, what is it that made you think this was possible? Have you seen something specific?

Mcgregni this is what I found when looking for info........With Nikon it's exactly the other way round: the flange focal distance of Nikon lenses is longer than that of Pentax (and also Canon) lenses. So you can use Nikon lenses on a Pentax camera (or Canon), but not the other way round.18 Mar 2016

Sure, but you have to budget for a Nikon or Canon DSLR as well.

I have the Sport version in Canon mount and it is an excellent lens, Contemporary is much the same but lacking the build quality, weather resistance and weight. there is no useable Canon or Nikon to Pentax mount adapter.

Buy yourself the C version and a cheap used 7D MKI or Nikon whatever just for wildlife.
No equipment list here but thanks for taking an interest. My Flickr

Mikep, you're absolutely correct. If I can get a good finance deal I'll buy the 80d or the nikon 500. But just seem to be going backwards in mega pixels. Just a real pity the AF-C on most pentax is useless. But the best brand for image quality in my opinion.

You've got a K3 ..... Do you know how much of a crop you can do with that sensor and not have any significant loss at the output sizes you use? ..... Do you really need 600mm...?
