Looking at getting a sigma 150 - 500
How does it compare to the 50-500
Advice please

I have the 150-500.... It has served me very well over the 15 years I have had it, and it has taken all the abuse I have given it! Strong and sturdy is what I call it.... It even survived a fall, but the camera is was attached didn't!

People say it can be soft at 500mm, but I have taken pin sharp images at that focal length. I find at that focal length it is best to go manual focus. It gets even better closed down to f8 and above.

FWIW I've got the 170-500, it's a superb lens if you set aside the usual weight issues. Sadly it hasn't seen much action in recent years but hopefully it will again.

Just found a 50-500 hsm os at the right price
