It is an affordable 300mm for a K1 but it isn't as good as say, a 55-300 PLM on a K3. As to the +9, it might not need that on your camera. It is also a bit hefty.

Its a superb lens, I've had one for over 10 years, I'm surprised the seller is suggesting a +9 adj on his K3, I appreciate all lenses are marginally different, mine needs no adj on either my K5 / K3ii or K1.

Just ask Mike P how he rates this lens, he's had at least 3 that I know off, ( I purchased one off his for a good friend last year ) , sold then regretted, then re-purchased

It is a cracking lens, I have the later version which I've used regularly for motorsport for a number of years now. Works very well on K1 and crop sensors, very good IQ wide open and quick to focus (screw drive).

Some of the shots in my gallery have been taken with this.

Have I got hold of a bad copy perhaps? I bought it based on reviews and was generally disappointed with it. The 55-300PLM outperforms it in every respect. I shall play with the AF adjustment and see what happens.

The lens is well capable of excellent results, this is one from last year @ 200mm on a K3ii, mine is one of the early versions with the paint peeling issue.

Cracked it - I think. It was mirror slap while using it on a tripod. Using 'mirror up' and waiting a moment, it does what it's supposed to do !

It works quite well with the Pentax 1.4x on a K-3Ii as well.

Thread resurrection - what is the difference between the versions of this lens? One has a checked finish and one striped?

Checked one is version 1, striped is version 2.

V1 can be very flakey with autofocus on Pentax cameras newer than the K-5II, they need an update which Sigma no longer do. I sold mine a few months ago, fabulous lens but if something goes wrong with it now you are stuffed as there are no parts anywhere.

Thanks for clarifying, it would be to use on a KP, so will check if the update has been done, thanks
