I think if you are happy with the amount you paid for the lens, and based on image #2, I'd say it was worth keeping.

I am happy in all respects with the purchase, except that the description of the lens at Ffordes should have been more comprehensive. The "E+" does not say much about the real condition of the lens. Having said this, I will now try to focus more on using the lens, rather than getting annoyed looking at the scratched front glass...

Thank you for your comments and advice!

I just have one more question regarding the A35-105 lens. I noticed that the outer front metal ring was quite loose on my lens, and when trying to tighten it (anti-clockwise), I managed to loosen also the front lens element (which tightens clockwise). I then untightened the outer metal ring completely, to be able to tighten the front element.

What kind of torque should I apply when trying to screw the front of the lens tight (with my hands)?

Is it possible to remove the front glass completely in this way if I ever stumble upon a defect A35-105 with perfect optics?

The story about my A35-105 lens has a happy (though slightly expensive) ending. I contacted a Pentax technician here in Norway, because the front lens group was loose. By chance I asked him if there could be a faint possibility of obtaining a new front lens group spare part. After some research he managed to find the very last one in stock in the country. So now my A35-105 has a brand new front lens group and has also been serviced
