Tried out the samyang 135mm f2 today in the garden,
Thought I had shot these wide open, but they are at f2.8, no sharpening at all and minimal pp
This is phenomenally sharp.
Will post some wide open when I get a chance to shoot again,

This 135mm fills a much needed gap in the Pentax FF line up, I just briefly looked at a review (Gary Wolstenholme) which reckoned it is best between f5.6 and f8 when it is "phenomenally sharp"! Looks promising.

Must give it a whirl at that too and post some comparisons

I don't really see how this lens would improve on the results from a Pentax 100 FF.. Though Im not an owner of either.. So maybe ill receive some guidance..

If I had a pentax 100mm ff I'd do a comparison for you but I don't.
I've yet to try it at f2 but I can say that at f2.8 for me it's sharper than my siggy 105mm macro.
Haven't seen any fringing either. Despite some high contrast areas.
Plus there's an extra 35mm over a 100mm.
As I said, i have not sharpened the shots above, and i usually sharpen everything
I can't give you a detailed analysis of it as yesterday was my first try with it. But maybe someone else can.

First drop of rain in 3 weeks today, so the dogs lounged around in the house,
It gave me a chance to try out the Samyang 135mm wide open @ f2
No sharpening or clarity, processed from raw with just slight levels adjustments,
I really like this lens

Top shots, I was surprised when you said you tried at f/2.8 - wide open isn't that much worse in terms of sharpness. It's an astounding lens, one that everyone should try out on the K-1 (along with the Irix 15) to sample the awesome levels of correction - close to zero fringing wide open.
All the gear with no idea

As Derek said, you've got similar sharpness to the 100mm even wide open (f/2 vs f/2.8 on the 100). You've got the extra reach. You've got the bokeh from f/2 and also the benefit (challenge) of a longer focal length for even thinner DoF. Very little fringing or aberrations. For the right situation it's an unbeatable lens (the A* 135 would like a word though).

The price is similar for a 2nd hand copy of either of them but you lack the macro capability if you opt for the Samyang.

Cheers Peter, Haris.

That 2nd lot are wide open at f2, the first lot were at f2.8 by user error.
I'd have no hesitation using this lens wide open. It's sharpness is just nuts.
I've had some lenses that I'd have loved to shoot wide open, but the lack of sharpness always put me off.
Not with this lens.
DOF is wafer thin but I'm hoping to find new ways to put it to use. (New for me )
