I am sure this has been answered before and I have seen discussions on Pentax/Samsung lenses but cannot find a thread on this lens - so apologies in advance! Is it identical to the Pentax model apart from branding? I have read that the glass has a different "tint" so possibly not SMC? They seem a bit cheaper than the Pentax version - just checking if anyone has any experience of the lens or knowledge. Thanks

Nobody know for certain apart from Pentax but all I can say is I have had both the Pentax and Samsung versions and noticed no difference.
No equipment list here but thanks for taking an interest. My Flickr

Posters on the US Pentax Forum are, likewise, convinced they are the same beast, even down to the lens coating, with only cosmetic differences otherwise: http://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/10-pentax-slr-lens-discussion/77156-samsung-1...

Unless you really are enquiring after the 12-12 of your title, a salesman's nightmare

Good point CMW = a fixed zoom! Did mean 12-24 - thanks for all for the advice.

I don't think there's any difference. Even if there is, I can state categorically that the Samsung version is a superb lens, very sharp, good contrast / colours and I haven't seen anything in any photos taken with the Pentax version to suggest that the Pentax one is any better.
