Perhaps you don't know this, but I'm not a great fan of fish eye lenses for various reasons, one being we have human eyes so the pictures always look distorted.
BUT THIS... obviously a favourite spot of mine so I've photographed it before and seen it in a dozen guide books... pne of the best shots I've seen of the view. That incised meader is shown to perfection. The sky is terrific too. Obvioussly bathed in sunlight would be perfect, but somehow this doesn't matter so much!

Andrew

Mike although it doesnt look it from the image there was a lot of mist about apart from where the sun is breaking out which i believe has lost some clarity in the image..the colours were as in the image very muted.I have done some pp'ing but you are welcome to have go if you wish.

This was just a few edits in Aperture - a levels adjustment, and increased saturation and definition.

Feel free to edit any of my posted photos! If I post a photo for critique, I want brutal honesty. If you don't like it, please say so and tell me why!

If you get the chance to go back to the same spot, may I suggest that you lower the camera a degree or two so that the horizon is level, then the "fishy" effect will hardly be noticable. Fish-eyes can be fantastic for shots like these, but like all wide perspective lenses, very careful framing is essential to get the best from them.

I would tend to agree the immediate foreground is improved by Tim's work, but the grass on the main area now looks like a cornfield in the summer not as it was, a field of dry late winter grass. As for drab and dull, I dont think so......

I was quite surprised how much detail I could get out of the photo.
The composition is good and the fisheye is very appropriate here (I might have tried for a level horizon but this was probably not possible). But does noone else find the darkness of the clouds top right over the top? To my eye they look very unnatural - they ought to be emanating from a chimney not acting as a backdrop to this picturesque scene! Though perhaps it's just me, as noone else has mentioned this

When you have the horizon on the middle of the frame then it should be straight but i like the little curve here, it just look like the curve of the earth.
You can brighten up the clouds in PP if you want
