Be careful, from my experience they are not up to dealing with a DA* lens

Big thumbs-up for Alan but I have only used him to fix manual glass, and my 43mm Ltd. I don't know if he deals with lenses with built-in motors.

Lots of film bodies, a couple of digital ones, too many lenses (mainly older glass) and a Horseman LE 5x4.

What's the basic difference with a DA* lens from any other lens that makes them unable to deal with them?

Hi
I asked Alan about a da* when I was having
Problems with my 50-135 and he told me
That I will not touch da* lens anymore
To much hassle when the SDM fails again
After a few months

My comment is based on my experience of having to send a manual focus Tamron lens to Alan Marlow to sort it out after AMP had played with it.
in relation to the star lenses, I thought they required a higher degree of calibration than was available at some repairers

Surely that would be for the business to confirm that they couldn't deal with it, not for anyone here to make a presumption that they can't.
If they are local to the OP which I presume they are he only needs to pop the lens in for them to say yay or nay.

Of course, unless someone has had some experience with the person/company in question.

I don't think that Alan has retired, he fixed a lens for me last Thursday.

I'm having problems with my beloved Pentax 300 lens.
The autofocus isn't working v well - (taking ages to find and focus) and also the images have awful chromatic aberration.
I'm based near Newcastle-upon-Tyne and wondered if anyone could point me in the right direction to get it looked at and (hopefully) fixed.
Happy to post to anywhere else in the country, just desperate to get it fixed.
Many thanks
Lisa
