Hi,
Bought LR recently and still getting to grips with it. Can anyone recommend a good preset for black and white presets for wedding portraits (mainly indoors). Free ideally but paid if much better.

What effect am I looking for? Just good, impressive b&w if that makes sense....

Thanks in advance,
Pa.
Cheers,
Pa

From the VSCO packs I prefer the ilford and Polaroid mono presets.

the best black and white software seems to be Nik Silver Efex Pro, lots of presets , film types etc. very user friendly. unfortunately you have to buy the whole Nik collection, Colour Efex Pro4 , Silver Efex Pro 2,HDR Efex Pro 2(does not work with Elements) ,Dfine2, Viveza2 (film emulator), Sharpener Pro3 (RAW sharpener, Output sharpener) cost £95 from Google, who slashed the price from what it was when NIK were selling it. it installs as a plug in with photoshop, lightroom, and elements.

Another thumbs up for Nik Silver Efex Pro from me. I use it with Lightroom for B&Ws.

+ 1 (I find the other modules very useful as well, especially Viveza 2, Colour Efex and Define)

Hi,

I've installed Nik package today (lol, well over a year later...but free). I shot another wedding a few weeks ago and wan to make some B&W copies.

Within the Silver Efex Pro 2 module/program what presets do you use/recommend? Or another way to ask which presets do you think the customer/bride and groom would probably like. From an extremely quick glance (10 mins) I like
high structure harsh (but think it might be too 'hrd-ish)
full dynamic harsh
dark sepia (maybe the darks are too dark).

Thanks in advance,
Pa.
