I like the look of the new Q-S1, so soon I'll be ordering one to up the size of the sensor to the same as the excellent MX-1.

I've just been looking at the colour options, and this time I think I'll order gunmetal and green. I think that looks pretty fantastic, so might as well have something custom made for once. After all, it is nearly Christmas!

What's your colour choice?
Best regards, John

If I were to buy one then I'd go for either bright silver and royal blue, or maybe champagne gold and burgundy.

It looks a lovely thing, but I won't be buying one. Lack of funds unless I sell off a few lenses I fear.

Enjoy your early Christmas present!

Champagne Gold and Burgundy sounds good as well. Something will have to go to fund it, and that looks like the Ricoh GR. We'll see.

As the owner of a Q7 the Q-S1 just looks largely like a cosmetic upgrade.

As such I'm afraid that I will be sticking with my lovely black Q7 which looks like a miniature, complimentary, version of my K3 .

Just for completeness I also own a black and a white Q but no Q10 which again I thought was, once the Q had updated firmware, just another cosmetic upgrade. These Qs, and the Q7, were bought at bargain prices from SRS (Many thanks Chris!).

On that basis if the Q-S1 is going to provoke further bargains with the Q7 then I would have thought the Q7 would be a much better buy.

If I had the money I'd like an MX-2 with a faster image processor, a larger sensor (like the new Lumix compact), no tilting screen and a viewfinder. But I haven't and they don't make one anyway.
Best wishes,

I'm currently in the process of ordering from Chris, and the final colour choice is:

The colour may not make any difference to the quality of the images, but the option is there to be enjoyed and that's the colour that pleases me most.
Best regards, John

Smart! I think the QS1 is closer to the looks of the original q. Are the lenses black now?

Would never buy anything green, very unlucky colour, good job your buying it from srs

I must admit I am liking the styling and colour combos of this new Q and seriously thinking about upgrading my original Q.

Narrowed it down to two.

More classical then wacky.

I do like that green one John! nice choice, it looks very classy.

Am I right in thinking the Q-S1 has a plastic body, unlike the original Q ? if so, I'll hang on to my white Q

Nice colour combo John, still like Beakynet's more though I think.

I hope you both enjoy your new cameras. I look forward to seeing some photos. I just wish I could afford one as a travel kit.

Well, the order is now placed, so it will be interesting to see what the delivery time is.

I'm anticipating that this will have the versatility of the Q interchangeable lens system, plus the quality of the MX-1. That will be useful and I'm looking forward to using it in areas where a DSLR is too obtrusive or not appropriate.

I'll let you know when it arrives and post some pictures.
Best regards, John

Interesting conundrum. I liked the look of the GR (I have a GR1s) but its initial price was too high compared to the MX-1 so I bought that instead. It has essentially replaced my K-5 except for more specialist shooting.

Now that GR prices are dropping a bit and most of my shots from the MX-1 are at the wide end of the zoom, the GR v Q-S1 decision could be a tough call.

The kit arrived today, so that's 14 days from order. Not too bad for a special order.

In the end it's black and dark khaki green, and it looks splendid. It's much more tasteful than some images of it have looked.

Too late now, but tomorrow I'll post a picture.
Best regards, John

Does that mean you changed your mind about the colour, or you didn't quite get what you ordered? Enjoy the new camera - perfect time to go out for some Autumn ambles....
