problem changing flash output on K50

Just a question, do you mean that the whole display of the flash mode page disappears, or just the Flash Compensation setting (the plus and minus values at the bottom) ? And what appears on the screen after it disappears? How long does it stay visible for before going off?
One thing, at least on the K7/K5 series, you don't actually have to select the flash compensation setting to adjust it ... As soon as the flash mode display appears you just turn the rear e-dial to make the adjustment. It may be that it's waiting for you to do something and just times out ... ?

Thank you for the reply.
When the flash mode disappears (and it does not happene very time) it goes back to the main screen. It only stays visible a couple of seconds. I have just tried it again and it is working perfectly. I wonder if sometimes the way I hold it when hurrying I may be touching the shutter button just enough have it revert. .

That's possible yes. You could check that behaviour by specifically not pressing the shutter button and seeing how long the flash screen holds. If you are fairly quick and make the compensation adjustment then I guess the screen should hold long enough to confirm its set properly.
There is a ' memory' item in the menus for flash compensation that will remember the setting when the camera is switched off. This could be handy but for many situations the default of 0 compensation probably makes most sense.

I think it is my own carelessness when holding the camera outdoors as opposed to testing it carefully. The screen does disappear very quickly if you touch the shutter button. I leave it at 0 compensation as you suggest normally. The K7 system seems more streamlined. Thanks again for your help.
