I use the paper from photopaper direct - it's cheap enough, and personally I've never had a problem with it other than remembering which profile to use when printing B&W (to avoid a colour cast).

Can't really get any more basic than Aldi when they have it on offer.
I print up to A4 on both Aldi and Canon paper. Apart from the Canon being heavier grade (thicker) I can't tell the difference in the printed result.

Another mention for Photo Paper Direct - their own papers are good quality and good value (I use them in an HP printer), and the service is quick.
