Power Zoom button on FA* lenses repair

I'm sure some of you will have come across the problem of the Power Zoom button falling apart on the FA* (and others) lenses - my FA* 28-70 encountered this fate a couple of years ago and I put it to one side with the intention of fixing it some day. Well, having just done a wedding with the Pentax DFA 28-105 I found that I really could have done with the slightly fast aperture of the FA* 28-70/2.8 - so if anyone here has a recommendation for how to fix it (nothing is broken, just fallen apart) I would be very grateful. Presumably a couple of small dabs of glue is the answer, but what would be the best type of glue and where would be the best places to apply it?

Thanks in advance

If you choose araldite or other epoxy then be very careful as it tends to seep and spread much further than you anticipate.
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass

The first thing I'd try is blutak. A little bit applied on both sides of the button might provide enough adhesion to keep it in place.

Would a carefully applied dab of a gel type superglue work, by using a gel, its less chance of running elsewhere and a droplet can be controlled pretty easily

those buttons were always falling of the zoom lenses of that period.

It should not affect the ability to manually zoom (or even power zoom if the switch was in the PZ mode when it fell off)

FA Zoom lenses were a pain I remember, but the FA*28-70 had a different design didn't it?. And unless you are shooting with a Z-1(p), Z-10 or Z20 and maybe Z50p that button doesn't have any other purpose...

I went for the Superglue Gel option in the end (Cheers Chris) - seems to have worked a treat
