Playing with water again
Mike Hull, there are lots of ways to snap water droplets, in fact you will find various ways if you google and search for water drops photography, they explain the simple and not so simple ones to do. That is your best bet. I personally like to experiment and tweak various elements and not follow any particular technique, I just like to try and see what comes out as a result. I am still in the process of experimenting and haven't nailed it exactly still.
But google around and I am sure you are bound to find many subjects on this, smoke and water droplets is quite a widely explored subjects in my personal opinion. Then if you have a specific question or need help then drop me a line, if I can be of any help I will be glad to give you any specific tips.
Good luck
Amin
No3 for me, love the green and the sharp focus on the crown.
The first two have too much motion blur for me and the whilst the fourth has amazing clarity in the droplet I find the ripples at the bottom little distracting.

Some are more equal than others
Edit: Just noticed the texture on the bottom of the third (green) shot, really sets it off. Might be worth
trying different textures and maybe pebbles in the bottom?

Torn between 3 and 4. I think 4 just has it. Find the reflecions in 1 and 2 a bit strange - is it just you taking the photo? Will have to look up the technic when my flash arrives - but don't lose any sleep over me being better than you

The flash you bought will not help you get these type of shots. Unless you have another one too. The ring flash you bought is just not suitable for these kind of shots in my opinion. You need a flash that you can position away from the camera.
But I may be wrong, as mentioned earlier I have just been experimenting and for all I know you might come up with a few stunning water drop shots with it. For me it just doesn't work when I attach the flash on these water drops images
Like I said, don't lose any sleep over it. I probably won't even try my reflexes aren't quick enough I would just get the background
Very nice work.
I posted some over the weekend as well, although I did them in Black & White, I love playing about with water... and smoke, come to think of it.
Time flies when your having fun.
