..... sheet, cover, thing to keep the sunlight off the rear screen.

Anyone know if there is a supplier of those old fashioned black sheets that the photographer hides beneath while focusing on the ground glass screen? I use a bath towel to keep light and reflections off the rear screen when using live view but it slides off quite readily.

100% black cotton, two layers and a couple of elastic bands, Im sure you have an old Motörhead or AC DC teeshirt or two in black, cut em up and improvise but don't grow a moustache or you might end up impersonating that fellow Sherif Ali, you know the one he kept calling the other fellow Awernce , they wear cotton for a reason

Or if you want to spend money, Intrepid sell nice colured ones for their field cameras, or there are similar on ebay for less. I have a nice blue one and a bright red one! (both double thickness with black liner)

Speedgraphic.co.uk sells one, search their website for focusing cloth. 1.2m square, black on one side, red on the other, weighted corners. £48 but must be good value cos it's "Made in England from 100% top quality cotton".

Or perhaps creative application of velcro strips to the bath towel and weights on the corners would stop it sliding off.

Wouldn't a simple hood for the screen be more practical? Plenty around for £20 or less.

I tried hoods. I just get a face full of sun, my eyes stream and I can't see anything at all. Now I've seen them on E bay I will get the sewing machine out and visit the local bazaar to buy some cotton fabric.
