So finally managed to get camera 2 tested with a roll of Kentmere 100. Developed here at home with LC29 as from what I read it's a better developer than Ilfosol 3.

All with either the FA 35mm, Tamron 90mm or the Sigma 20mm

Proper black & white Gareth! So now you've seen the results, what are your thoughts on what if anything you would do different at the point of exposure?

First image is a class shot and shows the tonal range of the film. Last two images also show a good range but which negative did you flip?

You have nailed the exposure in #6 (shooting all white subjects) and kudos for shooting into bright backgrounds in #7, #8 & #9! Brave lad.

Best regards

An interesting session Gareth. I have experience of FP4 and HP5 only and I'm happy with them, but your photographs remind me that there are alternatives.

The exposure of the two swans in #8 is excellent. The backlighting and the white subject are handled very well which means we can pick out the texture of the feathers on the nearest swan.

Equally, the tonality in #10 and #11 provides a 'feel' of the shoreline: I can imagine picking my way across the rocks whilst trying to not drop the camera

How do you feel about shooting and developing film?
Nigel.

Getting older and grumpier. Taking longer to decide which lens to use today.

Thanks all! The Z-1P is a joy to use and it pretty much nails the exposure every time. A few where I shot into the sun I pointed the camera up and down or left to right to guage how much the exposure changed with the sun in and out of the sky and then either found a mid exposure if I could and used the ML button locked that in, or if not, I moved into manual mode and used my mid tone exposure.

Gary, no.10 is flipped so the beach should curve the other way. This beach is on my doorstep, pretty much literally and I love how every time I go down there, the foreground has changed with the tides.

Nigel, I usually use Delta 100 as I really dig that contrasty white whites and black blacks look. I was using Ilfosol 3 but then found that LC29 is the same as HC110 and it gives great contrast so I moved over to that developer. I've used Kentmere 100 and 400 before and it has good contrast and thus developer seems to enhance that. I love developing my own film, takes me back to years before digital photography and makes you feel connected again.

35mm, I've got that down to an art but I won't say what happened to my first time developing my own 120 film a few days ago! Hopefully film 2 will be more successful!
