With box and both caps. Lens itself is immaculate. Only the metal screw-on front cap has any sign of use, where there's a very small amount of paint wear to its serrated outer edge.

The original, green-band SMC version.

My favourite lens. Bought from another user on here for £360. For sale to help fund other projects.

For sale for £290. I'll pay the RMSD if you BT or PP F&F (or if you add the extra for PP payment protection should you want that)

I may have overstated the wear to the lens cap. This is the worst of it.

Sorry Bruce. Still too far away.

I've not been following lens values and they must have really come down since I bought. I'd been looking for a while and £360 was a good price then, so I thought my asking price was very keen. I guess the move to FF must have hit values for crop lenses, even the Limiteds. So I'll reduce it to

£275 + RMSD.

There were a couple of others advertised during January - both were asking £220

I've only seen the HD version going that low myself. Were those two SMC too or HD?

Really depends on what you want to hold out for. Both versions can sell for up to £330ish (or more) as long as you're willing to wait for a while.

Thank you, HarisF1.

Looking on ebay there's one used SMC listed at £340 + £8.35 postage, and one new copy listed at £548.85. There is one other used, at £226 + £17.55 postage, but from Japan (so will be subject to import VAT and fees on arrival) and it's missing the screw-on lens cap. That also makes me more comfortable that my price is reasonable.

The HD version that recently sold was priced to just get rid of judging from the asking prices of the other kit he was selling (most of it well under what it's worth). Unfortunately when someone does that it straight away devalues everyone elses kit for months to come as prospective buyers will always quote that (rediculously low) price.

On eBay some things go for well under their normal value and others much more. It all depends on what someone is prepared to pay and how many are after it at the time of the sale. A bit of a lottery really!

F.w.i.w., exactly two years ago I paid £275 on Ebay for an SMC version.

Happy that I did.
